Get Out Your Crayons

Description of Class

The students will learn two techniques for fabric coloring using crayons. One technique will involve a printer and use the color tinting technique. The second will use a flat griddle and the students will learn color shading on a hot surface. Pattern selection and different ways to transfer patterns will be taught. A preprinted kit on muslin will be provided at the cost of $2. Students will bring fabric, crayons, griddle and pattern for transferring. Also other supplies as outlined below.

Fabric Requirements:
Background fabric large enough for selected pattern allowing for piecing to border fabric.
Suggestions: muslin or light fabric without much pattern.
After cutting fabric, zigzag the edges to protect against fraying

Supplies List:
Clean flat griddle (may bring your kitchen griddle)
crayola crayons - 24 count
red heat transfer pencil
8 1/2 x 11" sand paper taped by blue painters tape to a flat board
paper towels
Simple coloring pattern printed on paper
