This stunning fan quilt will be the envy of all your quilting friends. It uses strip piecing and an innovative technique for the smooth curved areas.

Fabric Requirements:
Fabric A: 1 1/2 yards
Fabric B: 1 1/4 yards
Accent (used between fabric A and B): 2/3 yard
Background: 1 1/8 yards
Fan bottoms and Border corners: 1/2 yard
1st and 3rd borders: 1/2 yard (total)
Binding: 3/8 yard (not needed for class)
CUTTING INSTRUCTIONS: (wof = width of fabric)
Fabric A: 15 strips 3 1/2″ x wof
Fabric B: 15 strips 2 1/2″ x wof
Accent: 15 strips 1 1/2″ x wof
Fan bottoms and border corners: 8 squares 6 1/2″ x 6 1/2″
Background: 16 squares 9 1/2″ x 9 1/2″
1st and 3rd borders: 12 strips (total) 1 1/2″ x wof
Binding: 5 strips 2 1/2″ x wof
PRE-SEW INSTRUCTIONS: (Please have this done before class)
Using Fabrics A, B, and Accent fabric, sew the strips together into 15 strip sets making sure to sew the accent strips between the A and B strips (A-Accent-B). Seven of these will be used to make the blocks. The remainder will be used in the second border.
Supplies Needed:
Basic Sewing Kit (Machine in good working order, machine cord/pedal, straight pins, fabric scissors, paper scissors, needles, thread, notebook, pen/pencils, 18” ruler, rotary cutter, cutting mat, iron, and of course chocolate)
Optional kit fee of $5 or bring the following
9 degree wedge quilting template
16 pieces of 4”x16” single sided fusible
4 pieces of 6 ½”x6 ½” single side fusible
DO NOT BRING DOUBLE SIDED FUSIBLE!!!
