Description of Class
Do you like intricate quilts with small pieces? Learn the techniques of perfect piecing used by some of the best quilt makers and designers. Get “how to” tips for making perfect ¼” seams and choosing the right thread. Practice three techniques for making small half square triangles and the pros and cons of each.
We will talk about when to press seams to one side and when to press them open. Learn cutting and pressing tips for perfection. Master how to put it all together by making 14 ½” square pillow top, wall quilt or table topper. The optional project Farmstead Star kit is available in 2 different fabric options (Esther’s Heirlooms by Kim Diehl or Granny Chic by Lori Holt). The price of a kit is $20 which includes the pattern and backing. You can pick it up in class or bring some fabric and just practice the techniques to use in your own projects. Come have fun sewing together and perfecting your piecing. Go home with some great memories and a goody bag of surprises.

You will make a 14 ½” block. You’ll need 15 to 20 coordinating fabrics including a background.
Cutting will be done in class.
BSK (Basic Sewing Kit: Sewing Machine in working order with power cord & foot pedal, thread, extra sewing needle, straight pins, paper scissors, fabric scissors, seam ripper, rotary cutter with a fresh blade, a ruler that is sufficient for the class, cutting mat, paper & pens/pencil for taking notes, iron and your favorite treats)
